There are things in life that are indispensable. Things that motivate us, that entertain us and that therefore improve our private and professional lives. In this series, we ask what web workers need in order to approach their daily work with joy and energy. In the sixth part of our series, we asked Tilo Bonow, founder and CEO of Piabo, about his motivations.
5 things I can’t work without – Tilo Bonow from Piabo
1. RSS-Reader
In my job, it is important to always be up to date and provided with the most important information in order to understand what makes different target groups tick and what they are interested in. That is why I love my RSS reader. It provides me with exactly the topics that are relevant, that interest me and that drive my business forward. At the same time, I learn a lot because I involuntarily come across topics that I hadn’t even considered. I am very curious and like to admit that I am a news junkie, so the RSS reader has become an indispensable part of my everyday work.
2. My team
I always refer to Piabo as a “human-based company”. Our greatest asset is the people in our company and the connections we have with each other. An experienced and continuously developing team beats everything. Just as I am the CEO of Piabo, I am also the first point of contact for my employees. Personally and professionally.
3. Evernote
Knowledge and contacts are gold in my industry. This currency lies dormant everywhere in the company. It used to be annoying when you found out that you had spent a long time researching a topic or working on something, even though others in the company had already collected information on the topic. Today, everything is digitalized. This includes contact details and notes, which can be easily shared with any colleague. Paper is superfluous in the office. An enormous time saving and a significant increase in efficiency in everyday work.
4. Boomerang
Boomerang is a wonderful tool for people who are in contact with a lot of different people at the same time. It helps you keep track of things: where is progress being made and where do you need to follow up? In the communications industry, where we juggle hundreds of requests every day, this is vital.
5. Netflix & Co.
In order to clear my head in addition to the mentally demanding work, I like to go for a walk, treat myself to a good meal or watch an exciting series on one of the streaming providers. My top 5 currently: 1. The West Wing, 2. Chef’s Table, 3. The Good Wife, 4. Silicon Valley and 5. The Newsroom
