Purolator and UPS are freezing shipments from some courier companies amid a growing backlog of deliveries amid the Canada Post strike.
In a statement to The Canadian Press, a Purolator spokesperson noted the company is “experiencing service disruptions due to severe weather and a significant increase in volume.” CP says UPS didn’t respond to a request for comment.
As it stands, it’s unclear how long Purolator and UPS are pausing shipments, although eShipper, a middleman courier business, told CP that it’s gotten a 48-hour hold order from the companies.
In any event, it’s something else to consider if you’re still doing Christmas shopping. With no clear end in sight for the Canada Post strike, and associated delays with other postage companies, you’ll likely be waiting a while if you order something online.
In the meantime, Canada Post said on December 5th that it’s reviewing new counter-proposals submitted by the postal employees union.
