Streaming in Canada on Apple TV+, Crave, Netflix and Prime Video [Aug. 19-25]

Apple TV+

Pachinko (Season 2) [Apple Original]

Apple TV+ release date: August 23rd, 2024 (first episode, new episode every Friday)

Runtime: Eight episodes (around one hour each)

Sunja (Youn Yuh-jung) must make tough choices for her family’s survival in war-torn Osaka in 1945, while her grandson Solomon (Jin Ha) loses his job in 1989 Tokyo.

Pachinko is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee and was created by Soo Hugh (The Terror).

Crave

Don’t Even [Crave Original]

In this Indigenous Canadian-led comedy series, two Winnipeg teens try to make the most of one last summer before moving away for university.

Don’t Even was created by Toronto’s Jennifer Podemski (Little Bird) and stars Brantford, Ontario’s Leenah Robinson (1923) and Winnipeg’s Victoria Gwendoline (Burden of Truth). The series was also filmed in Winnipeg.

Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1

In the Old West, families, friends and foes must contend with the Civil War.

Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 was co-written and directed by Kevin Costner (Yellowstone) and features an ensemble cast that includes Costner, Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal), Sam Worthington (Avatar), Giovanni Ribisi (Sneaky Pete) and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy).

A mild-mannered professor who moonlights as a fake hitman for the police finds himself in a world of trouble when he falls for a potential client.

Inspired by Skip Hollandsworth’s 2001 magazine article of the same name, Hit Man was co-written and directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood) and stars Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick), Adria Arjona (Andor), Austin Amelio (The Walking Dead) and Retta (Parks and Recreation).

Incoming [Netflix Original]

In their first week of high school, four teenage boys head to the biggest party of the year for a wild night.

Incoming was written and directed by the Chernin brothers (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and stars Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Ramon Reed (13: The Musical) and Montreal’s Raphael Alejandro (Once Upon a Time).
