Streaming in Canada on Crave, Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+ and Prime Video [Nov. 11-17]

Our ‘Streaming in Canada’ column typically focuses on new content from Amazon’s Prime Video, Crave and Netflix, but other services like Apple TV+ and Disney+ will be mentioned when relevant. Premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms are also fair game as movies continue to come to digital early.

Finally, we’ll highlight shows or movies that are made by Canadian companies, involve notable Canadian cast or crew and/or are filmed in Canada.


Crave

Dune: Prophecy

Crave release date: November 17th, 2024 at 6pm PT/9pm ET (first episode, new episodes every Sunday at 6pm PT/9pm ET)
Genre: Sci-fi drama
Runtime: Six episodes (around one hour each)

Set roughly 10,000 years before the events of Dune (2021), Dune: Prophecy chronicles the origins of the powerful Bene Geserit sisterhood.

Based on Frank Herbert’s Dune novels, Dune: Prophecy was created by Diane Ademu-John (Body of Proof) and Alison Schapker (Alias) and stars Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Olivia Williams (The Crown), Jodhi May (The Witcher), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The Bridge) and Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty).

Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking

Crave release date: November 14th, 2024 at 5pm PT/8pm ET (first episode, new episodes every Thursday at 6pm PT/9pm ET)
Genre: Baking show
Runtime: Six episodes (around one hour each)

James and Oliver Phelps, who played the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter films, host this cooking series in which contestants compete to make the best Wizarding World-themed treats. Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef will serve as culinary judges, while Harry Potter actors like Bonnie Wright (Ginny) and Evanna Lynch (Luna) will make appearances.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Disney+ Canada release date: November 12th, 2024
Genre: Superhero, action-comedy
Runtime: 2 hours, 8 minutes

Deadpool must team up with an alternate version of Wolverine to escape the Void and save his universe from complete destruction.

Based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name, Deadpool & Wolverine was co-written and directed by Montreal’s Shawn Levy (Free Guy) and features the return of Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, with Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) joining the cast.

Emilia Pérez [Netflix Original]

A feared crime lord hires a lawyer to help her disappear and realize her dream of transitioning into a woman.

Emilia Pérez was written and directed by Jacques Audiard (The Sisters Brothers) and stars Karla Sofía Gascón (The Noble Family), Zoe Saldaña (Guardians of the Galaxy), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building) and Adriana Paz (Vis a vis).

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson [Netflix Original]

Netflix Canada release date: November 15th, 2024 at 5pm PT/8pm ET
Genre: Boxing
Runtime: Eight two-minute rounds

After a delay earlier this year, a fight between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson will take place on Friday, November 15th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The big fight will be streamed live on Netflix.

In addition to these new titles, Arcane (Season 2 — Act II) and Cobra Kai (Season 6 — Part 2) both hit Netflix on November 15th.

Based on Christian Wallace’s Boomtown podcast, Landman was created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and Wallace and stars Billy Bob Thornton (A Simple Plan), Ali Larter (Final Destination), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Demi Moore (Ghost).
