The iPhone 16 Pro might come in a new bronze colour

Rumours are swirling ahead of Apple’s fall iPhone event, and the one gathering the most traction is that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro will come in a new bronze/brown/titanium colour. There are lots of other leaks and rumours floating around, but remember that there’s no way to prove that these are true, so take them with a grain of salt.

I’ve seen a few different renders so far and one (probably fake) leaked image, but only one fake render seems to capture the elegance Apple usually evokes with its colours. The latest images from leaker Majin Bu show off the potential camera ring, which almost has more of a gold hue. In a render based on what they know, the phone looks less brown and more like a slightly more saturated version of last year’s Natural Titanium colour. That said, reports claim that Natural Titanium is dropping out of the lineup since it’s being replaced with this new darker shade. I’ll be sad to see it go since I really liked the minimalness of the look and how raw it made the phone feel.

The rumoured name for the new colour is Desert Titanium, meaning Apple will likely stick with titanium for the Pro-series handsets while the regular models are still made from aluminum. The other iPhone 16 Pro colours are reportedly Black Titanium, White Titanium, Gray Titanium, and Gold Titanium (Desert Titanium). Potential renders of the regular iPhone 16 models show black, white, blue, teal, and pink.

There’s a ‘leaked event invitation’ for the September keynote floating around, and while it does also feature bronze tones, it’s been confirmed fake by its creator.

The final leak floating around is that Apple plans to add a new ‘Capture Button’ to the Pro iPhone 16 models. This one seems a little less likely to me since the company is still ironing out the Action button, but the rumours state that it will be on the right side of the phone and will act as a camera shutter button that you can press halfway down to focus. It may also allow you to swipe on it to zoom in and out. I feel like the focus action isn’t super useful since iPhones have great autofocus, and the zoom controls could be mapped to the volume buttons much more efficiently. That all said, this leak comes from Mark Gurman so it does have his credibility behind it.

Of course, Apple’s event will come fast enough and showcase the new iPhones and Apple Watches. The standout of the watches might be a new plastic SE model that could come with a lower price.
